Baropodometry and stereophotogrammetry for classifying flatfoot severity: dynamic angles and footprint indexes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Static radiographic angles and other clinical qualitative observations are used traditionally for classifying flatfeet. Correlation of foot shape measurements, taken from pressure footprints under dynamic conditions, with radiographic angles was preliminarily investigated in young flatfeet [1]. The aim of this study is to assess the sensitivity and specificity of existing or purposely defined angles and indexes obtained from both dynamic pressure footprints and multisegment foot kinematics during the stance phase of gait. The main hypothesis is that these thorough measures can account for structural and functional changes in the foot, thus improving flatfoot severity classification.

Comparing Three Footprint Grades to Evaluate Footprint Indexes for Flat Foot Diagnosis
Purpose: The present study investigated the most appropriate footprint index and its related parameters for the diagnosis of flatfoot, especially in cases with mild deformity. Methods: In total, 148 footprints were recorded from 77 young women with flatfoot. Footprints were classified into three groups of mild, moderate, and sever. Footprint indexes included Sztriter-Godunov (KY), Clarke’s Ang...
متن کاملAnatomical plantar pressure masking and foot models: potential for integration with marker position systems
Background Investigation of local foot loading using baropodometry is highly relevant in both research and clinical settings. In order to reliably associate local pressure data with foot function and structure, anatomy-based masking of footprints is recommended, especially when foot anatomy or footprints are significantly altered. Previous studies combining baropodometry with stereophotogrammet...

UNLABELLED The flat foot can be defined as a syndrome with multiple etiopathogenesis, characterized by an altered structure of the longitudinal arch of the plantar vault with its reduction in height. The plantar arch collapse can be counteracted by strengthening the muscles involved; for many years, specific physical exercises have been proposed with this purpose in physical and rehabilitation ...

Objective: Previous studies have showed that Flatfoot as flattened out or lowered medial longitudinal arch of foot, may increase foot injuries during functional activities like walking. As foot orthotics widely is prescribed for the control of flatfoot. Mechanism of these devices’ effects on balance are not fully clear yet and need to be evaluated and quantified by using proper instruments besi...
متن کاملEffects of rigid and soft foot orthoses on dynamic balance in females with flatfoot
Abstract Background: Various types of foot orthoses are prescribed for people with flatfoot. It has been reported that orthoses not only improve the biomechanics of the lower limb, but also have good effects on some balance parameters in these subjects. It is hypothesized that the latter effect is dependent on the rigidity of the orthoses. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the ...
